Joy of Giving Week, Sept 25,26 and 27, 2010
SICD members supported and participated in this joy of giving week. Our club contributed Rs 5000 and our menber Dr Veena contributed Rs 2000 towards this event.
Members and their children volunteered to take care of the children affected by Down’s Syndrome. They assisted in them during the event and all helped serving food to the the children.
It was spread over three days. The 1st day had about 120-150 outstation children where not much help was needed. An eye camp was conducted.
The next two days drew a larger number of about 1200 children. The ladies all felt good and happy to have contributed their time and effort. Certificates were given to all those volunteers.

The Children's Health Camp 29 August 2010

29 August 2010
The Children's Health Camp at Mylai Balaji Nagar
In association with Apollo Hospitals for the at the New Life Primary School, Perugudi,
The camp screened 400 children, and we had to close the gates by 1pm.This was an over whelming response from the community. As usual the team from Apollo was very meticulous and very well organised. The small school almost got converted into a mini clinic. The children and parent went back with a smile after their check up. They were very appreciative about Apollo having come to their door step. They even requested a similar camp for the elders.
The Doctors and all the staff served with warmth and smile. It was not only satisfying to the doctors having volunteered their time but for us too, having partnered with you, to do this community service to the children.
The student volunteers from IIT, Madras and the members of Soroptimist International Chennai Downtown had coordinated very well with the community to ensure smooth running of this camp.
